The revised eighth edition of the Toponymic Guidelines reflects changes in administrative divisions. The guidelines have been extended by the statistical subdivisions of the European Union for Austria. The administrative structure is illustrated by systematic tables in the annex and by maps provided by Statistics Austria.
The chapter on minority names with cartographic relevance has been updated and is now covered in more detail. The sources for the legal basis have been expanded.
The chapter on toponymic source materials has undergone a more detailed structure. The chapter has been subdivided and reflects the federal structure of Austria. It is now structured into two sections for national cartographic and toponymic sources and two sections listing toponymic services and maps compiled and provided by the federal provinces.
The eighth edition of the Toponymic Guidelines is available for download as a PDF file.
